Changes to Supporter tiers

An update on changes to pricing and titles for Supporter Portal tiers and some thoughts on the purpose of this website after four months.
Changes to Supporter tiers

It's been four months since I launched this portal. Since then 65 of you have signed up, many to paid tiers. I very much appreciate all of the support - financial or otherwise - and it's wonderful to see people using this new feature.

This is all still new to me. I'm still working out exactly how this portal can best be used so that there is something useful available to everyone.

Supporter tier changes

With this in mind and from reading some of the useful feedback sent to me, I have decided to make some changes to the Supporters Portal tiers.

At the moment there are three tiers:

  • Zone 1 (Free preview) ($0 per month)
  • Zone 2 ($5 per month)
  • Zone 3 ($10 per month)

To make things more accessible, especially under current cost of living conditions, I will be reducing the costs of the Zone 2 and Zone 3 tiers and introducing a new Zone 1 tier. The free preview will remain but under a different name - 'Free Tram Zone' (thanks to Barry for the suggestion!)

This means that the new tiers are:

  • Free Tram Zone ($0 per month)
  • Zone 1 ($2 per month) - early video access
  • Zone 2 ($4 per month) - early video access, bonus footage, WIP updates
  • Zone 3 ($8 per month) - all of the above plus credit in videos

If you are an existing member please check the new system. You may want to change tiers up or down depending on what you're after.

I have also introduced a facility for one-off payments if a subscription model is not for you. This can be accessed using the following link: https://members.philipmallis.com/#/portal/support

The purpose of this website

To finish my earlier thoughts, one of the main purposes of this website is to serve as a way to communicate and publish that is fully independent of any company or commercial entity.

As much as we may like to believe, places like YouTube will not be around forever. There will be Days of Reckoning for even these seemingly invincible websites controlled by giant corporations of the sort that has befallen many thousands considered 'too big to fail' before. The most frightening thing is this could happen with little to no warning and with no inadequate tools to prepare and migrate if necessary. This Supporters Portal is no substitute but will be a big help when this day arrives.

I'm looking forward to finding out more of what this platform can do and hopefully add some cool new features in the future.
